A “Single Opt-In” email list simply means that someone provided their email address through a third party website with their self reported information. Each individual may fill out a survey, product registration, or other online form. The individual will then click, "yes" to a question such as, "Would you like to receive additional information from third party advertisers related to your above interests."

PROS: This option can be the most economical, allowing you to market to a wide audience. The "cost per thousand" is lower than a Double Opt In or Guaranteed Open email campaign. The coverage for single opt-in campaigns will be broader than double opt-in.

CONS: Single Opt-In email campaigns can have a lower average "open and click thru rates" than the other methods. This is due to the lower deliverability rates caused by the broader market and often less targeted consumer group than a double opt-in campaign could provide.
